before my time. but by which time peu old hands (gpo days) c1s pete lawson and dickie markham were moving off the manual labour of cowley barracks and aylesbury peu crews for a more sedentary life style on as job controller/issuer and a new oh instalments surveyor. leaving the various other peu bods they had worked alongside in situ in oxord and aylesbury. among whom were duncey and richard turner(ten to two) as bts aylesbury peu crew.
i cannot provide the details as to how and why the situation existed but soon after my arrival on the aylesbury peu crew under duncey and alongside willy boy, i would learn from duncey that ..they... the aylesbury peu - he and ten to two - had been managerless (had no first line manager to whom they reported) for a goodly period of time - months maybe - extending to aug 2000 when duncey and ten to two had been joined on aylesbury's tec peu crew by new starters stephen williams and andrew ruzicka. (aka willy boy & the fat man / the fat fuck (depending on duncey's mood!) more detail about the new starters and there respective involvement (willy boys minor and clean. - ruzicak's major and as dirty as the fat fuck keeps himself physically) later.
more about this ..aylesbury peu managerless period... in another post. the arrival of these two particular new starters to work under duncey and ten to two was fortuitous for duncey. very. willy boy was in the position of a happy go lucky man in his mid fifties and couldnt give a fuck about much re bt. stick the poles up, sell what pulled out poles we can pocket the dosh and go home. he had no more ambition in bts workplace than that. ruzicka on the other hand - was a big mouth gobshite of a bully and wasnt about to work under ...any fucker.. least of all ten to two. the fat fuck saw the lay of the land on bts oxford and aylesbury peu crews and got ambitious and realized he could throw his weight around intimidate bully and get away with it. he had duncey's example to follow and duncey. who was proud and boastful of his ...substantive c1 grade..status, which he knew the fat man would never be able to outrank. over the yrs these two pieces of shit fitted like each other like boy friend and girlfriend - alternating roles - and served each others purposes v well indeed. until they - fell out - over me. no worries, you cant keep the shit and the shovel apart for long. they had several making up and breaking up episodes after dec 2005. and are still a loving bt workplace couple - leading separate bt workplace lives naturally - up to now for all i know :)
duncey's rejected by aylesbury tec bods. no takers for vacancies on aylesbury peu crew after the departure of lawson and markham. that is because no bt employee in their right mind would choose to change and apply to work under wayne dunce. every man in that yard knew the kind of individual duncey was and would run a mile rather that work under him digging holes sticking up poles and hanging arial telecom cable. duncey was known for who he was and was persona non grata as far as all existing aylesbury tec employees were concerned.
hence the two new starters allocated to aylesbury peu to work under duncey and r turner. both c1s. the following was a proud and repeated boast of dunceys. which i included in my e/bs to bts management in 2005/6. r turner was interviewed and point blank denied the statement put to him.
years previously on the aylesbury peu crews r turner had been promoted to c1 and in charge of crew including duncey. duncey had also applied for the vacant c1 post but turner had secured the grade and position.
r turner to bt management early 2006 ...no. that is incorrect. i left the aylesbury peu crew because i chose to go to the overhead hoist job. and not because i wanted to get away from working alongside wayne bunce.
and no wayne bunce did not immediately start to make life difficult and awkward for me when i took up my c1 peu post in charge of him. no he was not uncooperative and bullying toward me from the moment i took up my post, so that in short order i gave up the post i was promoted into. i was allowed to keep the grade but i gave up the post, which wayne bunce then applied for and secured a c1 grade and the head lead of bts aylesbury peu crew.
from when i began working under him in july 2001 duncey relished telling me, in front of willy boy, exactly how he went about harassing and bullying richard turner, the newly appointed peu c1, into jacking in the job and leaving the way open for him, wayne bunce himself to secure his workplace advancement ambitions. duncey would brag about how thrilled ..vu missus,,. was bitd that he'd achieved such seniority and job authority and a higher grade of pay. clev'a hubby.. xxx.
to conclude . no right thinking bt employee, not any man whether on cst or cabling or second stage or any other copper plant worker working out of bt's aylesbury's tec would ever ever choose to work under or alongside bt employee wayne bunce. he had a well know reputation. one that he was boastfully proud of. but diligently so. wayne bunce considered himself a one off, special and smarter ...more clev'a van... the other bt employees he occupied bts aylesbury's premises with. therefore the b2 grade vacancies on aylesbury peu to work under the c1s wayne bunce and richard turner were in fact the new starters ,,aug 2000.. steve williams and pandy poozicKA.
